Check out Tucker Max

If you're looking for blunt, foul-mouthed honesty (I know I am), then you should seriously check out www.tuckermax.com. He recently signed a deal with Comedy Central (details unknown), but I am hoping to see him on TV sometime in the near future. This guy is a Duke law grad who puts none of it to use on this website, but is making a ton of money through promotions, books, and advertisements on his website. I have a knack for finding famous people before they become famous, and this guy seems to fit the bill. He is very aware of who and what he does, and thrives on controversial topics in his "stories" on his website. As anyone knows, controversy sells, and he has more than a few cards up his sleeve. Please check out his website and read his stories, they are cleverly written, and extremely funny.

Rose Bowl Opinion

I will begin this post by saying that this is not a rant, but I have never been more embarrassed to be a Michigan football fan. I do not even half blame the coaches, even though they were out coached by the USC coaching staff for the second time in three years. I do not necessarily blame the offense, specifically the offensive line, who continually got manhandled while unable to handle the continuous blitzes from the USC linebackers and corners. I have watched football for years, and have continually become more numb emotionally the older I get, because I realize that the better team almost always wins the game. This was certainly the case today, as there is no doubt in my mind that USC has a better team than Michigan, despite the loss to UCLA to end their regular season. However, there is really only one reason USC won today. The Michigan defensive backfield is absolutely horrible. I want to make one point very clear: this is not the fault of defensive coordinator Ron English. USC ran for less than 50 yards on the ground, and I have always strongly believed that if you can create a game strategy that fully stops the run or the pass, you can win with marginal d-backs or d-lineman, whichever one you are lacking in. This should have worked today, except for the fact that the d-backs, specifically Morgan Trent, are not even marginal. The only d-back who played well at all was Barringer, as even Leon Hall was beat deep for the second straight game. It is hard to have a successful gameplan when your players continually blow coverages and have mental lapses at key moments. I can't count how many times Trent got beat. If an offense is unable to run the football, there is no excuse to not at least keep the passing game in check, similar to what USC did to Michigan today. I am disappointed that we (Michigan) does not have better options at our second corner position. I know the game would have been much closer. Next year I guess.

Jimi Morrison's Head

Check out Jimi Morrison's Head, my friend's blog. It has great insight on sports, fitness and finance, among many other things. It's very cleverly written and garners a lot of reaction from its readers. Take a look!

Is your dog depressed?

I laughed at this article at first, but I stopped because depressed dogs are a serious issue. Read further here. Keep a better eye on your dog, maybe they are not very happy right now. Give them a hug, then some Prozac.

There are no excuses anymore!

While picking up a couple late x-mas gifts, it was amazing to see how many people packed every single one of these stores, making purchases that were not to their benefit. The older generations need to wake up, and see all the opportunities that lay before them. There is absolutely NO reason for somebody to have to leave their house to go x-mas shopping anymore (outside of the occasional Ma and Pa store). Not only is it less stressful to stay away from the long lines, but it is honestly cheap, if not cheaper! Any place you can buy it for cheap at the store, you can buy it for cheap online too. Couple this with the fact that many companies offer free shipping and what not for certain purchases, the old "shipping and handling" complaint is becoming more and more a moot point. Many already know this, but for those who don't, look at bestbuy.com, or even buy.com. These will give you an idea of all the time (not to mention gas) that you are wasting by making these monotonous trips to the mall every holiday!

LeBron and ESPN

Since LeBron James has entered the NBA, he has proven many things to a lot of people, including myself. I believe he will win at least one championship. I believe he will win a handful of MVP awards. I believe he will go down as one of the greatest players to ever play the game. However, after watching his performance against Atlanta the other night, he confirmed something else to me that I believed: He will never compare to the one man he has been set against since being drafted: Michael Jordan. In case you missed it, Cleveland had blown a 4th quarter lead and Atlanta was wrapping up an overtime comeback victory when James decided to walk off the court with seven seconds left on the clock, with the rest of his teammates finishing the game on the defensive end of the floor. I assume a lot of people would give him the benefit of the doubt, considering how well he had played (34 pts, 7 reb, 6 ast) and the fact that his teammates gave him no support offensively (20-64 from the field combined) and say that his frustrations were easy to relate to. I don't buy this. If there was one thing that separated Michael Jordan from any other player in history, it was his relentless leadership and will to win. Jordan would have NEVER walked off the floor and left his teammates behind. He would have ripped into them in the locker room and questioned if they wanted it as much as he did. James, through actions like this, is devolving into the typical NBA player of this generation: a me-first crybaby who bogs his team down through selfish actions. This defeats the ideals that Jordan based his game off of; Things like effort, leadership, courage.

On top of this, projecting to a demographic of increasingly younger children who idolize James, Stephen A. Smith goes on ESPN Sportscenter and actually condones James' actions, saying "his teammates are responsible for the collapse that ensued". If you remember, this is the same program that stopped the presses last year when Randy Moss walked off of the field in Washington with two seconds left in the game (Note: the Raiders defense was on the field, not the offense). Where's the difference here? The fact that we expect that type of behavior from a character like Moss should make it less of a news story than this one. This is the great King James we're talking about here, the one to lead basketball to the promised land! Instead, in an effort by "the World Wide Leader" to do whatever they can to anoint the next Michael Jordan, they sweep it under the rug and tell us it's OK to turn back on your teammates when they need you the most. I don't think the NBA would really promote a "Don't be like Mike" slogan, but that's slowly what is happening.
